SSCC 18 Barcode (Serial Shipping Container Code)
SSCC 18 barcode or Serial Shipping Container Code is used throughout the supply chain as an entity identifier for item tracing and internal control. It is a mandatory field on the UCC/EAN logistics label.
The SSCC 18 barcode is encoded with Code128 symbology (UCC/EAN-128). A two-digits AI (also called Application Identifier) of '00' is added to the beginning of the barcode.
SSCC 18 Barcode Check Digit Calculation
- From the right to left, assign the odd/even position to each digit. Start with odd position.
- Sum all digits in odd position and multiply the result by 3.
- Sum all digits in even position.
- Get the total for the two steps above and divide the result by 10. The check digit is the number which adds the remainder to 10.
